Cartier
Cartier was established in Paris in 1847 when Louis-François Cartier took over his master's jewellery workshop, and his grandsons later expanded it to London and New York. It is primarily a jeweller, but it played an early role in the wristwatch, producing shaped cases at a time when most men carried pocket watches. It is the largest brand in the Richemont group. Its watches are defined by geometric case shapes, Roman numerals, blued-steel hands and a cabochon set in the crown, with the Tank, Santos, Panthère and Ballon Bleu among its main lines.
