Casio

Casio was founded in Tokyo in 1946 by Tadao Kashio, whose brothers later joined him; the company first made small manufactured goods before becoming a pioneer of compact electronic calculators. It entered the watch business in 1974 with the Casiotron, a digital model with an automatic calendar. Casio's watches are almost entirely quartz, from basic resin digital pieces to G-Shock, the shock-resistant line introduced in 1983, alongside solar, radio-controlled and smartphone-linked versions. Its inexpensive digital models rank among the most widely produced watches ever made.
