Marathon

Marathon traces its roots to a family watch business started in 1904 and to the Marathon Watch Company, set up by Morris Wein in Montreal in 1939. It began supplying timing instruments to Allied forces during the Second World War and has since specialised in watches issued to military personnel, now designed in Canada and assembled in La Chaux-de-Fonds. Its search-and-rescue divers, first developed to Canadian government requirements, and its navigator pilot's watches have been used by several armed forces, many with tritium gas-tube illumination. The Wein family still runs the company.
