Movado

Movado grew out of a workshop opened in La Chaux-de-Fonds in 1881 by the nineteen-year-old Achille Ditesheim; the name, Esperanto for "always in motion", was adopted in 1905. The brand is best known for the Museum watch, whose bare dial with a single dot at twelve derives from a design by Nathan George Horwitt. Since 1983 it has been owned by the American company now called Movado Group, based in New Jersey, and it concentrates today on Swiss-made quartz and automatic dress and fashion watches.
