Oris is an independent Swiss maker of mechanical watches based in the village of Hölstein, in the canton of Basel-Landschaft, where it has operated since 1904. For much of its history it relied on sourced movements, but in recent years it has added its own Calibre 400 family with a long power reserve and extended warranty. The catalogue centres on dive watches, aviation-themed pieces and designs drawn from its archive, notably the Big Crown pointer date. The company remains outside the large Swiss groups and is known for environmental and ocean-conservation partnerships tied to special editions.
