Rolex

Rolex began as a London trading firm set up by Hans Wilsdorf and Alfred Davis in 1905 and moved its base to Geneva after the First World War. It is owned by a private foundation established by Wilsdorf rather than by a listed group. The company is associated with the waterproof Oyster case, the self-winding Perpetual rotor and a date display that changes at midnight. Its catalogue is built on a small number of long-running lines, including divers, travel watches, a racing chronograph and formal gold models, updated gradually rather than replaced. It produces its own movements, cases, bracelets and gold alloys.
