Shinola

Shinola was launched in Detroit in 2011 by Bedrock Manufacturing, the investment company of Fossil co-founder Tom Kartsotis, which acquired the name of a defunct American shoe-polish brand. The company assembles quartz watches in Detroit using largely imported components and has added Swiss-made automatic models, as well as leather goods, bicycles and audio products. Its watches favour sturdy cases, bold numerals and an emphasis on American assembly, with the Runwell serving as its founding model.
