Audemars Piguet
Audemars Piguet was founded in 1875 in Le Brassus, in the Vallée de Joux, by Jules Louis Audemars and Edward Auguste Piguet, and it is still controlled by descendants of the two families. In its early decades it specialised in complicated movements, including repeaters and calendars. Its identity changed in 1972 with the Royal Oak, a steel sports watch with an octagonal bezel held by visible screws, which now accounts for much of its output. The firm also makes the larger Royal Oak Offshore, the round Code 11.59 line and high complications.
